Tanglin Trust School - The PTA

There are several Special Interest Groups at Tanglin Trust School who meet on a regular basis and invite members of the Tanglin Community to join them. For further details, please click on the approprite link below:

This recently formed group, which is run by parents for parents, meets twice a term over coffee to offer help and support. This group also meets once a term with the learning support teachers for an information afternoon. For further information including dates and venues please click on here.

The Camerata meets each Monday evening of term from 7.30 pm in the Music Room on the Ground Floor of the Tower Block, Junior School building,. The Camerata has performed at the Festival of Music in St George’s Church each Christmas and the Tanglin Concerts in 2005 and 2006 at the Esplanade Concert Hall. The Tanglin Teen Action Group is a support group for parents of Senior School Students and parents of Year 6 students. The TTAG Coordinator is Angela Hutton, School Counsellor.

Angela as TTAG Coordinator represents Tanglin Trust School at the Teen Task Force, a forum for international schools in Singapore.

TTAG organises information events and distributes teen and parenting information from other groups.

If you are new to Singapore and would like to meet up with other Mums who haven’t already got an establish network of friends, please come to Café 211 on level 4 of Holland Shopping Centre in Holland Village. Depending on demand, this group will start Thursday, 28 September and meet every Thursday from 10.00. Just a casual and informal drop-in session, stay as long or as short as you like and combine with other errands in Holland Village.

Religious Groups

The Tanglin Community is made up of families from many different faiths. If you meet regularly with other worshippers and would like to publicise your meetings to the Tanglin community, please contact the PTA office (ptaoff@tts.edu.sg) and we will add an entry to the Special Interest Group website pages.

This is a Christian inter-denominational prayer fellowship group that meets once a month to pray for the needs of the School. The aim of the fellowship is to be a positive influence on the School.

You are invited to join and share on Christian fellowship. Please contact Kathy Walden on waldens@starhub.net.sg for further details.

The Friday Discussion is led by Steve Kay and meets every Friday at 08.15 in the PTA Office. Topics which have been discussed in previous meetings include:
Helping children fit in – both juniors and teems – and mixed messages which we receive as parents from the children
Sibling Rivalry
Happiness of parents (mother) but also Dads/ Personal adjustment to changing role
Perceptions of others of us and us of them in Singapore (do Singaporeans really think that we are all rich expats on huge financial packages?)
Culture Shock
Security and environment - Teenagers and alcohol - boundaries - our values vs peer pressure

If you are a Tanglin mum in full time employment and would like to meet up with other mums from Tanglin who have to juggle their career and being a Mum (attending Open Mornings, Sports Days and trying to help in class) this group meets every fourth Thursday evening of each month with no specific start or finish time, allowing Mums to arrive early or late and staying as long or as short a time as they can. The meeting venues will alternate between the Holland Village area and the CBD area and will meet from 7:30pm.
