Tanglin Trust School has roots that go back to 1925
and is currently at the forefront of innovative British-style
education in South East Asia.
Our vision is to be the premier school, providing the
highest quality learning experiences for 3 to 18 year
olds, and cultivating strong relationships in an environment
where the individual is important. Our students enjoy
a rich and stimulating all-round education which prepares
them thoroughly for life in a rapidly-changing and competitive
world.
Come with us on a journey and let us share with you
the positive energy that thrives in this special place
that balances tradition with innovation. Let us celebrate
with you why Tanglin is so much more than a school.
An Ideal Learning Environment In A Dynamic Setting
Tanglin Trust School offers world-class learning and sporting facilities in an environment that is highly conducive to student development. The School is situated on Portsdown Road, approximately 15 minutes drive from the west of the city centre, in Singapore's dynamic "one-north" area, a hub for knowledge-driven industries that are set among heritage and nature areas.
Challenging Learning Experiences
We are proud of Tanglin’s reputation and our academic, musical, dramatic and sporting achievements. As students progress through the School, they are provided with opportunities to extend their interests in the performing arts and sports through a wide range of co-curricular activities.
Our new Sports and Performing Arts building will provide further opportunities for inspired performances. Our artist and author in residence programmes enhance students’ understanding of the creative process.
Interacting With The World Beyond
At Tanglin, we believe that our students should have first-hand experiences of other places, people and cultures and have a deep understanding of interdependence. Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom to promote an appreciation of the world through field study trips that go beyond students’ usual horizons. These range from visiting the market in Chinatown to staying overnight in a long house in Sarawak. Our charity-based expeditions involve our older students in a broad variety of projects from teaching oral healthcare to children in a remote part of Northern India to building houses in Cambodia.
Promoting Individualised Learning
We encourage independence in our students from the youngest ages, and as they grow in confidence they are spurred to take on challenges which will stretch their personal boundaries. Classroom activities are enriched by lessons directed by specialist teachers, the co-curricular programme, charity activities and excursions. We believe in personalised learning and we offer students intellectual, social and physical challenges.
The Tanglin Culture
At Tanglin we believe in cultivating supportive relationships and achieving continuous improvement in an environment where the individual is important. In addition to valuing each student’s achievements, the School encourages young people to work effectively in groups, to help those in need and to accept responsibilities as valued members of the community.
We actively promote environmental responsibility and global citizenship and our "Friendship" days focus on the further development of social skills and cultural sensitivities.
Valuing Individual Differences
The School promotes respect for individuals regardless of age, gender and background. In addition to the care given by teachers in the classroom, the services of counsellors as well as nurses, and close communication between parents and the School, all nurture well-balanced students who are thoroughly prepared to meet life’s challenges and make a significant contribution to the world.
