Friends of Tanglin
Welcome to our new on-line alumni service called “Friends of Tanglin”. This easy-to-use and free service has been established for former students, staff, members of our Board of Governors and Presidents of our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), who wish to join the Tanglin Trust School Alumni Association.
Friends of Tanglin is privileged to have as its first Honorary Presidents two past Chairs of the School’s Board of Governors, John Curran and Sandra Berrick. With over 35 years of Tanglin knowledge and experience between them, the School is honoured to welcome them to Friends of Tanglin. |
Friends of Tanglin is delighted to announce that its first official member is Rosie Montefiore (nee Wilson), whose father, Dr Charles Wilson, was in one of the first cohorts of Tanglin students in 1925. Mrs Montefiore and her brothers (John, Patrick and Alan) were students of the School in the 1950s and 1960s. When her son Robert became a Tanglin student in the 1980s, it was the first time that children from three generations of one family attended the School. |
|
One of the aims of Friends of Tanglin is to promote communication within our alumni community and to create a network of people who have attended the School since 1925. We would like to encourage those who have been at the School to contact former teachers, old friends and colleagues.
|
Since the service was launched early in 2005, the response has been very positive. Membership numbers are expanding and the current membership profile reflects the history of Tanglin with members being of a wide range of ages. Our Friends of Tanglin logo has been developed to reflect Tanglin’s approach of balancing tradition with innovation and the establishment of the service is in itself an important milestone in the School’s history. |
|
Tanglin Trust School, as we are known today, has a history that dates back to 1925. Over the years the School has operated on a number of sites. Today’s facility on Portsdown Road, which provides premier British based schooling for students aged 3 to 18, is a result of the amalgamation of a number of schools in Singapore, including the Tanglin School, Tanglin Preparatory, Weyhill, Raeburn Park, Winchester and Wessex Infant. |

If you were involved with any of these Schools as a student, member of staff, member of the Board of Governors or President of the PTA, please join Friends of Tanglin. For details on becoming a member, please click here.
