Our students sit the National Curriculum Tests that are compiled and published by England's Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. The tests are taken at the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2), Key Stage 2 (Year 6), and Key Stage 3 (Year 9). The Authority also oversees the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations taken in Year 11 and the A level examinations taken in Year 13.

Tanglin maintains its impressive academic record
Tanglin’s academic success continues to be maintained at all levels with another good set of examination results. CEO Steven Andrews is delighted with the results which, he said,’ confirm our ability to ensure all students achieve well’. He was also eager to stress that education at Tanglin is not just about examination success. He commented “Exam success is important, but here at Tanglin we believe that developing students’ personal qualities and attributes are also vital. We offer a range of experiences that make sure our students are confident, articulate and ready to play a full part in shaping the world.
The result of the best education is not just about what students know; it is also about who you are”. He went on to thank students, teachers and parents for all their hardwork and support that together contributed to the results. “When students, teachers and parents are working in harmony it produces a powerful ethos in which students thrive and prosper, this is one of the keys to our success” Mr Andrews went on to say “I am particularly pleased with the GCSE results which are amongst our best ever, I am aware that 70% of our grades being A* or A compares very favourably with both independent schools and UK grammar schools.”

| Youngest students continue to make an impressive start | |
| More than 185 students were assessed at the end of Year through a combination of National Curriculum tests and teacher assessment. The assessments were made in reading,
writing and mathematics. The assessments provide very useful information that follows the student into Year 3 and helps the next teacher to plan work that is matched to the needs of each student.
This year's assessments are well up to the usual high standards that we have enjoyed for the last several years with the majority of students working at level 3 (level 2b is the benchmark level) |
The improvement was most marked in writing with a jump of 12% in the proportion attaining level 3. This is the result of much hard work that has focused on improving writing standards through careful planning and making sure each student knows how to improve their own work. |
