Tanglin Trust School is committed to excellence in corporate social responsibly (CSR). We aim for ethics, citizenship and sustainability to underlie everything we do at Tanglin, ranging from waste reduction efforts on campus to the positive contribution we can make to communities in Singapore and the Asian region. Our vision is for the values of CSR to guide all planning and decision making at the School, including the way we deliver our curriculum, raise environmental awareness and interact with others both within the School and beyond.

Our three-pronged approach to CSR focuses on society, the environment, and an examination of Tanglin as a workplace and the resources we use.

Society

We aim for all students to have the opportunity to do volunteer community service work, as we believe it is important for our students to be actively involved in helping others. Respect for individuals and cultural differences are reflected in our curriculum at all levels. Our students are also involved in fundraising for various charities.

Environment

Our environmental efforts involve us examining the School’s carbon ‘footprint’ and energy efficiency. Students and staff are encouraged to use resources wisely – reduce consumption, reuse materials and recycle. The School will also seek to enhance biodiversity within the School grounds wherever practicable.

Workplace and Resources

As a workplace, Tanglin is dedicated to best practice in health, safety, financial management, governance and employee relations. Staff members are valued for adopting a CSR driven mindset and for this to be clearly evident in their actions and interactions. The School also maintains high standards in procurement and business partnerships.

Tanglin's CSR efforts in these three areas are monitored by its CSR Coordinator, Graham Worthington (graham.worthington@tts.edu.sg).

Our Administrator of charity work undertaken by students and other members of the Tanglin community at the School is Barbara Mason (barbara.mason@tts.edu.sg) who runs Charities at Tanglin (CH@T).
