Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

What is the PTA?

The PTA is YOU - the Parents, Teachers and the Governing Board.
It is run by a committee of Volunteer Parents and Teachers who are elected annually and work closely with the School’s Leadership Team for the benefit of the School community.

The PTA exists on the drive and enthusiasm of the parents who are involved with it. Any parent or teacher can be involved and are encouraged to be so!

Our Aim

The PTA aims to provide a link between parents and staff to support the activities of the School in order to support the wellbeing and development of the School, Students and Community.

Objectives

The objectives of the Association shall be:

  1. To foster direct contact and co-operation between parents and teachers on all matters affecting the well being of the School and the welfare and development of the pupils.
  2. To assist in fund-raising, extracurricular activities, and generally in matters concerning the welfare of students and staff in conjunction with the Leadership Team.
  3. To provide a forum for the free exchange of views and ideas between parents, teachers and the Leadership Team, whilst recognising that educational principles and their implementation are the responsibility of those in charge of running the School.
We try to achieve our objectives by offering a channel of Communication, providing Services and organising Events.

Communication

The PTA is a channel of communication between the Parents and the School and a forum for the free exchange of views and ideas between parents, teachers and the Leadership Team.

We offer Welcoming Mornings when you are a new Parent and we extend this line of communication by weekly PTA Highlights- emails sent by TTS Communication, by encouraging your contact by visiting us in person at our office located next to the junior office or by phone on 67703146 or by email at ptaoff@tts.edu.sg

We arrange for Class Representatives (Class Mums) to be in place and provide you with the vital support you need at the class room level.

Events

We arrange many school events:

  • • Junior discos - always a huge hit with the kids.
  • • Book and Gift Fair - a great opportunity to get those books you'd been looking for with the key booksellers under one roof! Nice selection of gift vendors to choose from too.
  • • Christmas Event - Festive and fun for all
  • • Supper under the Stars - a Beautiful Black and White house setting - a very relaxed but fun evening.
  • • Ceilidah - dancing and fun for all
  • • Quiz nights - Teachers and Parents love getting together for this night of hilarity
  • • Pizza Days - a treat for the children
  • • Newcomer coffee mornings - an absolute must if you can make it with lots of valuable information.
  • • Tanglin Fete - Our biggest event but worth it for our children who go MAD for it.
  • • Senior House Day BBQ - a perfect complement to a super team building day.

The PTA has paid for or contributed towards:

  • • Tanglin in the Community Fund
  • • Additional books for the library,
  • • Equipment for the School’s information and communication technology suites
  • • Musical instruments,
  • • Playground equipment
  • • Helped finance the School's visiting Author and Artist programme.
  • • A high-end projector system complete with screens and installation for the new Sports and Performance Building
  • • A defibullator for use by the School Nursing Team
  • • New gym equipment

The PTA can also be contacted via e-mail (ptaoff@tts.edu.sg). The energy, enthusiasm and drive of the parent body at Tanglin helps make the School the very special place that it is.
