The Infant Library provides a safe, enjoyable and educational environment for infant children, while providing resources to support and enhance classroom learning experiences. Children visit the Infant Library with their classes and are welcome to borrow from the vast collection of resources. Parents are also encouraged to visit with their children and borrow books.
The Infant Library is proactive in developing information literate global children through the simplified teaching of library research skills. The role of traditional paper books is balanced with new and emerging technologies that include interactive e-books, audio books and the use of QR codes to directly access online information. The Infant Library also has an interactive whiteboard, desktop PCs, Apple TV and online subscriptions. The entire library catalogue is also available online.
Children are nurtured to foster a love of literature through regular visiting authors, illustrators and book character themed days. All lessons are taught by a specialised Teacher Librarian and supported by qualified library officers.
