As the quality of pastoral care influences a school’s ethos, it is of crucial importance that all staff are able to contribute effectively in establishing and maintaining a climate which is characterised by good relations and mutual respect.
At Tanglin our provision for and management of pastoral care demonstrates our continuing concern for the personal and social development of all of our children regardless of their age or ability.
Within the Infant School a strong pastoral ethos underpins all that we do and the care, guidance and support which all our staff provide is one of the many outstanding features across the school. We aim to create an atmosphere in which all of our young people feel secure, successful and know they are valued as individuals. They are encouraged in their learning, growth and social development in a healthy and safe environment and become fully participating members of the school and its wider community.
A high priority is given to developing a child’s independence, personal and social skills in the Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery & Reception) and this continues into Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) through our PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education) curriculum.
