Progress and Reporting

We are constantly seeking to strengthen our partnership with parents and one of the ways we do this is through reporting to parents and actively involving parents in their children’s learning. At the start of the year, we have orientation sessions for new families; these are repeated termly for those new to Tanglin. We also have Information Evenings for all parents in August; this is an opportunity for parents to meet the class teacher and to find out about the year group routines, special events and expectations.

We also have formal Student Parent Teacher Conferences in all years to review progress on an individual basis. Students are expected to take a proactive role in these meetings. Progress Reports are sent home every term. We have found that face-to-face meetings are more effective for our older students so, in place of a full written report at the end of the year, these students have a second Student Parent Teacher Conference, usually after their mock examinations.

Although there are structured opportunities for parents to meet with teachers, we have an open door policy in that teachers are always available to meet with parents at a mutually convenient time throughout the year and discuss any concerns they may have.
