Technology

In the Junior School, the use of technology to support learning is embedded across the curriculum. Our specialist IT (Integrated Technology) teachers ensure that the children are increasing their skills, confidence and experience of using IT as they progress through the school.

Specialist teachers also broaden the curriculum by delivering a bespoke range of projects that lead on from each year group's termly topics. This ranges from coding/programming, computer aided manufacturing with 3D printers, image editing in differentiated applications from Pixlr to Photoshop and film production ranging from static studio work, stopmotion animation and play-scripted narratives through Shakespeare's plays.

All children in the school create a digital portfolio which is shared with parents to provide an insight into their learning.

Each year group area has access to a range of technology, including iPads, Macbooks, Chromebooks and shared pods of desktop computers; cameras and sound recorders.

In Years 3 to 6, children benefit from a one-to-one iPad environment in school to complement the provision of one desktop PC per four children. If the school moves to Remote Learning, students will bring home a school-owned iPad and will need access to wi-fi at home. This is an important step, giving children the added responsibility of looking after a personal device while learning how to use it responsibly in the safe, familiar and structured environments of school and the home.
