Head of School Welcome

Tanglin’s Junior School (Years 3 to 6, ages 7 to 11) provides a nurturing environment where every child can flourish and thrive.  So that all children can achieve their very best, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that inspires, motivates and challenges.

Our engaging learning environment facilitates a holistic approach that provides children with a wide range of opportunities both in and out of the classroom. These experiences promote children's personal, academic, creative and physical development.  Every child has the chance to gain a public speaking award accredited through the English Speaking Board.

Year on year our children are inspired to achieve a level of confidence that they can carry with them throughout life. The Junior School is an accredited member of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) and children are well prepared for their Senior School education. While standards are benchmarked against the very best in the UK and internationally, our curriculum reflects our international setting and celebrates our diverse community.

The Junior School was the first school outside of the UK to receive the Gold UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Accreditation (RRSA). The RRSA is a moral framework based on 54 articles of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child with the aim of embedding children’s human rights into a school’s ethos and culture. The RRSA provides meaningful learning opportunities, sparks interest in global issues and, most importantly, empowers children to enjoy and exercise their rights; lead happy, healthy lives; and be responsible, active citizens. We are pleased to have won the Ethical Values Education category at the International School awards 2023 for this initiative.

We are particularly proud of the breadth of our provision and the many exceptional opportunities that enable every individual child to flourish. Outstanding specialist teaching compliments our impressive facilities with sport, art, music, technology and drama featuring prominently. Our dynamic co-curriculum an extensive and rich after-school activities programme that embraces the holistic development of our students and inspires our learners to discover, develop and excel at their passions. From robotics to yoga, singing in the choir to developing entrepreneurial skills, we truly believe there is something for everyone!

We aim to provide memorable experiences that foster a real love of learning and personal development. In addition to an exciting range of theme days and visitors, children from each year group participate in a residential visit so that they learn lifeskills to help them contribute with confidence to our world.
