The Arts
Tanglin has a thriving, vibrant and energetic Arts programme which is a vital part of the school curriculum and plays an important part in school life.
Music
During focused music lessons led by music specialist in the Early Years (Nursery and Reception), children are introduced to a rich variety of action songs and rhymes as well as simple rhythmic patterns. There is a strong emphasis on movement as well as exploring the vast array of instruments.
With a specialist teacher, all children from Reception upwards learn songs as part of a large choral group to develop their confidence as a singer. Children also have specialist music lessons which encourages them to develop their musical appreciation and sense of rhythm, as well as developing their compositional skills.
Drama
Drama has an important role to play in the personal development of our children and the skills and qualities developed, including teamwork, creativity, leadership and risk-taking. Drama promotes self-esteem and gives children a sense of achievement.
Infant children are encouraged to role play and use their creativity and imagination to explore ideas at every available opportunity.
Visual Arts
In the Infant School, children experience a diverse range of media and techniques within visual art (craft, design, painting, sculpture, textiles and printmaking) and multi-media art (including photography and digital arts).
