A hub where creativity, confidence and curiosity come to life

Opened in August 2025, the Junior Arts Centre (JAC) brings together specialist spaces for Art, Music, Drama, Dance, Library and Physical Development — right at the heart of the Junior School. Purpose-built for young learners, the JAC gives every child opportunities to explore, create, perform, read, move and discover where their interests can take them.  

More than Specialist Spaces

From their first performance on stage to creating their own artwork, picking up an instrument, getting lost in a story or developing new physical skills, the Junior Art Centre is a place where students can discover their passions and find their voice. The Centre has also transformed access to specialist learning.

Art, Drama and Dance now have dedicated weekly provision throughout the year, giving every year group regular opportunities to develop their creative skills with specialist teachers.

Art & Design

The JAC has purpose-built art studios that give our young artists the space, tools and freedom to experiment with different media, develop technical skills and turn ideas into reality.

The two flexible studios can operate independently or as one large creative space, supporting everything from curriculum learning to workshops, exhibitions and collaborative projects.

Drama

The JAC gives young performers dedicated spaces in which to rehearse, create and perform.

From the flexible Drama Studio to the 100-seat Black Box Theatre, students experience what it means to perform for an audience - building confidence, communication, collaboration and stage presence along the way.

Dance

Dance is no longer simply a small part of PE. Every Junior School year group now has specialist Dance teaching, supported by a dedicated studio with sprung flooring, mirrors, barres and professional lighting and sound.

From curriculum lessons to visiting artists and Academy pathways, students can develop their skills at every level.

Music

Music comes alive in the J:Hub - a purpose-designed performance space where students can experience the excitement of performing for an audience.

Four specialist music rooms, practice spaces and breakout areas support students as they progress from guided learning to independent musicianship, ensembles and leadership opportunities.

Library & Story House

More than a library, the JAC's two-storey library is a vibrant space for reading, storytelling, discovery and connection.

The Story House extends that experience through author, illustrator and storyteller visits - creating opportunities for children to encounter stories and ideas from around the world.

Physical Development

The JAC extends beyond the arts.

The purpose-built Athletic Development space helps students develop fundamental movement skills, physical literacy, confidence and resilience through purposeful physical activity.

With an astro zone, two-lane track, monkey bars, pull-up stations and Blaze Pods, students can develop their physical skills in new and engaging ways.
