It was an amazing privilege to watch the 150 films from Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Philippines and China at the Across Asia Film Festival (AAYFF) gala evening last week. The quality of the film entries was astounding, and our judges from Disney, Lucas Film and MediaCorp were full of praises for the high levels of technical and artistic expertise on display.
The event captured some of the magic and drama of the Oscars and, thanks to our marvelous events team and two fabulous hosts - Tanglin mum Kate Burton and Tanglin student Bailey (Year 12) – it was definitely a night to remember.
On the evening, notable winners included, among others, the visually stunning Lanterns, the philosophical Blink of an Eye, the moving Sugarcoating, the hilarious Goldie and the infectious Cheese on Toast.
AAYFF has now become the biggest youth film festival in Asia and Tanglin Trust School is proud to have been the founding institution running and supporting the event.
