We were delighted to host former Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin at the Institute for a thought-provoking conversation on climate leadership.
 
Drawing on his own upbringing and values, he reflected on how his commitment to climate action has been shaped over time, and how moments like Hurricane Irene brought the reality of climate change sharply into focus, reinforcing the need to act. He also challenged and inspired our students with a clear message: the next major innovation in tackling climate change has yet to be realised and it will be their generation that drives it.
 
The most powerful part of the session was the discussion that followed. Students and guests engaged in a lively, wide-ranging Q&A - from innovation and the future of climate solutions, to geopolitics, international collaboration, AI and the role of young people in shaping change.
 
A fantastic example of the kind of open, challenging dialogue that sits at the heart of the Institute at Tanglin. We are very grateful to Governor Shumlin for his generosity in engaging so fully with our community.
