The inaugural Ready-Up Rumble Esports Competition, brought to life through the generous vision and support of The Tanglin Trust School Foundation, has carved its name into history as the world’s first multi-discipline (multi-games) esports gathering designed for school students.
While at first there was initial trepidation within the wider school community about the scale and format of such an ambitious esports competition, the event itself quickly demonstrated the educational and developmental potential of esports when delivered with purpose and structure.
51 talented students from six international schools came together, forming teams of three and competing across a range of games. These weren’t just popular titles thrown in for fun. Every game called for teamwork, fast thinking, staying calm under pressure, and clever strategy, skills that matter just as much in the classroom, on the field, and later in life.
The energy in the room was buzzing from the very first match right through to the final round. Players loved how smoothly everything ran and how welcoming the whole atmosphere felt. When we asked them afterwards, 94% said they would likely come back. Students consistently identified playing and competing, the sense of community, and the energy and atmosphere of the event as key highlights.
"Ready Up Rumble was a well-organised and well-run event that brought together numerous schools across Singapore. Even though we were in a competition setting it didn’t change how we perceived one another and it caused us to bond over the games we played. Over the course of the two days, light-hearted rivalries formed, friendships came to be, and all of us had lots of fun." - Kalen F (Year 9)
"I had the chance to showcase all of my gaming skills and not only was it fun, but it was also a good learning experience as E Sports is a lot about mind games and self-belief." - Arin T (Year 7)
"It was a really great opportunity, hanging out with the other international school teams was a memorable highlight. I would like to thank Mr Fourie and the Computer Science team for making this all possible." - Andrew W (Year 12)

Now that the scale, ambition, and possibilities of school esports have been realised, the Ready-Up Rumble has helped to shift perceptions and build confidence in this emerging area of competition. We hope that showcasing what is possible will inspire more schools and students to take part in future events, further strengthening collaboration, innovation, and student engagement across the region.
The success of the inaugural competition stands as a clear example of the impact made possible through The Foundation’s support.
