International Women’s Day: Accelerate Action, Demystifying AI Conference

On 21 March, seven Year 12 students from Tanglin Trust School –  Jahnavi P, Aradhana C, Elizabeth G, Gia S, Mehar B, Lucia N, and Nishka C  – had the opportunity to attend the International Women’s Day: Accelerate Action, Demystifying AI conference, hosted by Standard Chartered. The day began with a panel discussion featuring industry experts from Standard Chartered and DBS, who shared insights on the growing role of AI, debunked common myths, and highlighted the importance of inclusive and ethical innovation. The session concluded with each panellist sharing a key piece of advice for the students: to embrace every opportunity with confidence!
Later, students heard from representatives of United Women’s Singapore (UWS), who spoke about empowering young women in STEM. They shared personal stories of overcoming challenges, building resilience, and the importance of support networks in male-dominated industries. Their message emphasised not only the value of skills and preparation, but also ‘allyship’ – mentoring both women and men to create inclusive environments.

Throughout the day, the students had the chance to network with professionals and peers, ask questions, and gain real-world insights into the future of tech and leadership.

The experience organised by The Institute left a strong impression on the students by giving them the chance to meet, learn and be inspired by women in business and understand more about the future of AI and its growing role across different careers.
