There was a wonderful sense of warmth and encouragement at this term’s Vocal Concert, as singers from Years 3 to 10 shared an evening of music that reflected not only their talents, but also their personalities and musical interests. Rob Hall, Director of Music, shares more with us. 

From traditional songs and musical theatre favourites to chart hits and Disney classics, the programme offered a little bit of everything. Some students were taking their first steps as solo performers while others tackled more ambitious repertoire, but what shone through in every performance was the enjoyment of singing and the willingness to stand up and share something special with an appreciative audience.
 

 

 

Particularly heartening was the way students supported one another. Duets between friends, enthusiastic applause and the genuine excitement of hearing such contrasting styles created an atmosphere that was both relaxed and celebratory. It was a reminder that singing is one of the most personal forms of music-making, requiring courage, imagination and a willingness to communicate.

The concert also highlighted the growing strength of singing across the school. With students of all ages and experience levels taking part, it was wonderful to see so many young voices being nurtured and celebrated. Whether performing a folk song, a show tune or a favourite pop song, each singer brought something unique to the stage, making for an evening full of charm, variety and memorable moments.
