Tanglin’s inaugural Sustainability Conference welcomed an incredible turnout from both international and local schools across Singapore.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity for students, teachers, and parents passionate about sustainability to connect, share ideas, and take action.

The conference began with an inspiring keynote by Sarah Cragg, Head of Asia Pacific at The Earthshot Prize. She highlighted how the Earthshot Prize raises awareness about sustainable change and the crucial role of creativity and innovation in developing solutions. Her talk left students reflecting on how they could drive sustainability initiatives within their own schools.

Mathew Howe, CEO of Grobrix, then introduced the concept of urban farming, explaining the engineering and design behind Grobrix’s soilless vertical farming units. Students also took part in an interactive quiz on food waste before enjoying freshly made smoothies prepared live using produce grown in one of Grobrix’s units.

The Sustainability Committee organised a range of engaging activities, covering topics from energy conservation and eco-friendly commuting to sustainable food packaging. Students were particularly inspired by the journeys of eco-entrepreneurs, which fuelled their creativity in hands-on workshops. They designed wind turbines, developed sustainable packaging, and calculated the carbon footprints of their travels.

The conference concluded with schools presenting their own sustainability initiatives, sharing their experiences and inspiring one another to launch new projects. Attendees left buzzing with ideas, motivated to become changemakers in their communities.
