You might already know this, but The Institute @ Tanglin is a forum that inspires, challenges, and prepares the next generation of leaders in our community, by promoting excellence, providing thought leadership, and encouraging discourse. One of the ways Tanglin does this is through the Institute Speaker Series such as the one recently led by David Faulkner, MBE OLY, from 27-28 September titled 'How to Develop a High-Performing Approach and Culture of Excellence'. 

All about David
David is an experienced professional in managing and influencing strategy and leadership of high-performance teams in sports, international institutions, military sectors, and the corporate world. As former Director of Sport at Millfield, he launched the Millfield Institute of Sport and Wellbeing. He was, until recently, the Head of Performance for the Women’s Professional Game and Para at the Football Association, primarily overseeing the professionalisation of The FA Women’s Super League.

During his sessions, David met our students, parents, and faculty as well as people from other schools to discuss how best to support our children’s aspirations in sport, athlete development, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and wellbeing in sport. 

Hearing from the expert
Aside from the Speaker Series, David also held assembly sessions for the Junior School children and Middle School students. It was quite the treat for them, since they got to hear about David’s experience at the Olympics, as well as learn about the importance of teamwork and doing their personal best. The Head Team and a selected group of Sixth Form students were in for a stimulating session on best practices for future leaders with David too.

All in all, the sessions sparked interesting discussions and questions from students, parents, and teachers. Needless to say, David was excited to be part of the Tanglin experience for the entire week.
