Magnificent Accomplishments Achieved in Pearson Outstanding Learner Awards

We were delighted to witness the presentation of 29 Pearson Edexcel Outstanding Learner Awards to 26 of our past and present students on 6 September 2019 at the annual ceremony at NUS in Singapore.

Pearson Edexcel awards are world renowned qualifications, built on the UK education system and accepted by universities globally.

These students were awarded for achieving the best results of all students in Singapore, Asia and the World in the summer 2018 examinations. They included:

  • 20 Highest Mark in Singapore Awards
  • 4 Highest Mark in Asia Awards
  • 5 Highest Mark in the World Awards

The examinations ranged from GCSE Chinese, Mathematics, Science (Double Award) and Physical Education, to A Level Business, Drama and Theatre, Art, Craft & Design and Government & Politics to name a few.

Rikhil, Year 13, commented: "The ceremony was a celebration of two years of hard work and dedication. Receiving two awards (for Highest Mark in the World for Chinese and Highest Mark in Singapore for Mathematics) from the examining body alongside the British High Commission was an incredible experience and one that has further fuelled a desire to strive for academic excellence. It was a great opportunity to reflect and be proud of my achievements. These awards were not only a testament to my hard work, but also recognised the dedication and effort of my teachers who helped me secure such results."

Scarlett, Year 13 achieved Highest in Singapore GCSE Biology. She added: "In many ways, the drive to look forward is beneficial, but it is also vital to reflect on our successes and remember how it feels to achieve something that is of great personal significance. For me, this award cements my determination and work ethic throughout the GCSE period which is something I hope to continue in every aspect of my future."

Following on from Tanglin's outstanding (I)GCSE, A Level and IB Diploma results over the summer, Allan Forbes, Head of Senior School extended his congratulations to these students at the awards ceremony, saying: "Congratulations to these students on their superb achievements. Parents delighted in the opportunity to celebrate the academic success of their children. It was wonderful to see so many of our students awarded. There was barely sufficient room on the Shaw Foundation Stage to fit is all in the group photo. Well done, one again to our 'inspired learners' and we wish them well as they move towards the challenges and excitement around being exceptional lifelong and curious learners."
