The breadth of our curriculum at Tanglin is always to be celebrated and this week was no exception. We were delighted that the TTS Foundation sponsored author and illustrator, Colin Goh, joined Year 1 and 2 this week.
Colin delivered a range of exciting bilingual sessions during our Chinese lessons, sharing his book and app series, Little Dim Sum Warriors. The series is written in English and Chinese.
Kaelyn, Year 2 said: "It's a really cool idea to have Chinese and English versions of the same story. 'Papa, I'm still not sleepy' was funny, especially when the dad asked for 5 more minutes on his iPad! I learnt some new words in Chinese too."
Infant children truly enjoyed this joyful language-learning experience. They even had the opportunity to create their own Dim Sum character!
On Thursday, there was also a meet and greet session with a book signing in the Infant Library. Colin said: "The children have been so open and receptive and have picked up words in Chinese very quickly – I'm very impressed! My books are a gateway to bilingualism, and I hope the children were able to appreciate the word play in both languages."
