This year, Tanglin Lions Gymnastics continues to go from strength to strength as we work within ongoing COVID-19 restrictions to find new opportunities for students to compete and develop.

We were delighted to host our first in-house competitions recently for recreational gymnastics classes from Year 3 to Year 7+. The competition allowed students attending weekly classes to showcase their skills and experience while performing in a competitive environment. Senior classes for Year 7 and above have continued to grow over the term, achieving the Lions' goal of increasing the number of Senior students taking part in recreational gymnastics for both fun and self-development. As we move into the final term of the year, the focus is now on building skills and developing individual skills charts for each child to see their progress.

For our Competitive Gymnasts, it has been an unusual competitive season given the ongoing restrictions, however we were thrilled to be able to host an in-house competition in February and attend the first ever inter-school competition with UWC Dover in April. These were very exciting events for our competitive gymnasts and helped them to get back into the competitive environment. The focus of these competitions was personal performance and providing our athletes with the opportunity to move outside of their comfort zones to perform once again.

Tanglin Lions have recently introduced new recreational freestyle gymnastics classes for Year 3 to Year 6 students, with the addition of a new freestyle coach, which the children have been thoroughly enjoying. Each week they learn how to move well and flow from one skill to the next, in a safe yet challenging environment.

The overwhelming response to our new 'Fun to Move' CCA has indicated the need for a gymnastics movement class to support the development of jumping, balancing, rolling and climbing skills in younger children. If you would like to enquire about any gymnastics classes for your child at Tanglin, please email the Tanglin Lions at gymnastics@tts.edu.sg.
