In October 2007 faculty and support staff at Tanglin came together to record their own version of Band Aid's 1984 hit, Feed the World. Donned in their best 80's outfits, Tanglin staff sang together to raise money for charity.
Fast forward 10 years and Tanglin staff, members of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and KAL Transport have dusted off their ra ra skirts and denim jackets to re-record Feed the World. The video will be available for download from the Caring For Cambodia website from Friday, 1 December priced at $10. All proceeds will go to Caring For Cambodia, a non-profit charity that seeks to secure a brighter future for children in Cambodia. A calendar featuring photos of teaching and support staff during the filming of the video will also be available on Friday, 1 December from the PTA Fair for just $20 with proceeds also going to CFC.
Tanglin has a close relationship with Caring For Cambodia after supporting the charity for the past 10 years. Since the original trip to Siem Reap in 2006 to review education practices in the pilot CFC schools, each of the three schools at Tanglin now actively support the charity. Activities include a teacher training programme where Tanglin teachers offer support and training to CFC teachers, fundraising activities in school at Tanglin, volunteering at schools in Siem Reap (serving breakfast to children, painting furniture, laying paving stones and other building work) and collecting hygiene packs from the Tanglin community to distribute to families in need in Cambodia.
