Tanglin's Students Attain Prestigious Top In The World Awards

Singapore, 17 February 2022 – Tanglin Trust School is pleased to announce that four A and AS Level students have been awarded Top in the World at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA) for their exceptional performance. The prestigious award recognises those who achieved the highest standard grade in the world for a single subject.

Natasha, a Tanglin Senior, achieved Top in the world for Geography twice; once for her AS Geography examination in November 2020 and now for A level in the same subject. The other three AS level students, Samuel, Isabelle and Harry, achieved Top in the World for Computer Science, Geography and Music respectively.

Allan Forbes, Head of Senior School said: "We are very proud of our students' exceptional performance and world class success despite the disruptions in classes over the last two years due to the pandemic. It shows their resilience, discipline and hard work – traits of a Tanglin education."

"I also want to take this opportunity to recognise the efforts of their teachers, including the educators who have taught and mentored them over the years. Brilliant job and well done." Allan added.

About Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA)

The OCLA are a group of awards issued by Cambridge Assessment International Education to recognise exceptional learner achievement in Cambridge examinations around the world. The awards celebrate the achievements of learners who outperform their peers. For this reason, the peer group is sufficiently large, and on a global scale, to maintain the integrity and value of awards.

Differentiation Between A and AS Level Awards

Where learners are taking a full Cambridge International A Level, their end goal is to obtain a Cambridge International A Level qualification, the OCLA does not confer awards at Cambridge International AS Level. In these instances, Cambridge International AS Level examinations do not represent the end of study, but rather an opportunity to check and measure progress.
