The Term 2 Junior Merlions Gala made a splash with 190 participants, as swimmers represented their Houses with grit, determination and great team spirit. Personal bests were broken amid plenty of smiles, sportsmanship and friendly rivalry throughout.
Tanglin by Candlelight was hosted for the first time ever at Tanglin, with the Recital Room transformed by candlelight into a reflective setting for an evening of musical collaboration and artistry. It was a memorable send-off for our Year 13 musicians, who have been wonderful ambassadors for Music at Tanglin over the years.
Year 12 students Janani A and Alicia Z achieved an outstanding result at the Cambridge Union Schools Debating Competition over the weekend, finishing as runners-up in one of the UK’s most prestigious school debating events. Competing against top schools from the UK and overseas, Alicia was named the competition’s third-best speaker and Janani fifth-best speaker - a remarkable achievement, made even more impressive by the 5am Singapore start time for the finals!
Year 1 and 2 Sports Day at the Tanglin Playing Field was a joyful celebration of movement and teamwork, beginning with a fun mass workout joined by everyone - including our school mascot, Griff. It was a wonderful way to promote a healthy lifestyle, and all the children did brilliantly throughout the day.
Junior Library launched the 2026 House Poetry Competition with a special workshop led by award-winning poet Laura Mucha, author of Porridge Please!, Rita’s Rabbit, Dear Ugly Sisters and Celebrate!. Inspired by this year’s theme, Planet Earth, children are invited to participate as part of the celebrations for Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.
ARTX CCA concluded this week with a joyful Easter-themed lesson, bringing the half term to a close. Over the past weeks, our Year 12 Art students have developed their leadership skills by guiding and inspiring a group of Year 3 pupils through a series of creative art lessons.
Our Year 5 and 6 Dance students took part in a professional lyrical ballet workshop on Thursday, 26 March in the JAC Dance Studio, as part of the personalised pathway provision within the Junior Arts Academy CCA programme. Led by choreographer and former Singapore Ballet dancer Jeremie Gan, the workshop reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing students’ technical skills, creativity and artistic understanding through opportunities to work with industry professionals.
House community events bring students of all ages together, and yesterday our Infants and Juniors (Years 1–4) enjoyed a joyful end-of-term House Singing Festival. Backed by a live band, they performed classic songs inspired by the natural world with great enthusiasm, before ending on a high with an energetic rendition of On Top of the World.
Our latest group of Tanglin Highlanders returned to Singapore late last night, and this morning, parents heard from the students on how they had developed Curiosity, Confidence and Community - with many memorable stories brought to life! It was a special week for our Year 13 students, filled with celebration and reflection as they enjoyed a memorable send-off in their final weeks of school. From watching the sunset together as a cohort and dressing up as who they aspire to become, to taking part in friendly touch rugby and netball matches against their tutors and teachers, and writing gratitude cards, it was a fitting way to mark this milestone.
