Term 1, Week 4

After the success of Romeo and Juliet and Titus Andronicus, Tanglin Trust School continued its Shakespearean tour with a production of Macbeth this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Macbeth’s historical context is fascinating, written as a response to King James 1 taking the throne in England and his obsession with witchcraft. The themes of ambition, power and manipulation continue to resonate. This group of performers involved students from Year 8 to Year 13, with double cast main roles, Vedaant Jean Paul and Terri Ryan were Macbeth and Lady Macbeth on Tuesday, with Charlie Bull and Ava Lewis playing the happiest married couple in a Shakespeare play on Wednesday.

Year 4 experienced a magical day where they learnt how to make 'potions', create 'spells' and tame 'fantastic creatures' as part of their themed day in school.

Year 7 went on a team-building adventure trip to Sarimbun. The aim of the day is to give all the students a chance to develop their confidence and problem-solving skills in a spacious natural outdoor environment away from the classroom. They experienced a selection of outdoor activities and team challenges such as Raft building, Outdoor Cooking, Pioneering and an Intermediate Ropes course.

After a hiatus of close to three years, Tanglin students are once again able to enjoy the benefits of overseas trips, engaging with people from other schools, cultures and develop friendships through the pursuit of their passions outside the school environment. Our heartiest congratulations to the Tanglin team for their performance at the Global Round of this year’s World Scholar’s Cup held in Bangkok this past week. Well done!

Year 8 students went on a trip to National Gallery Singapore  where they get to see amazing arts of Singapore and Southeast Area; ranging from 19th century masterpieces, to contemporary pieces.

As part of a House event, Senior students took part in a tug o' war on the playing field last week.
