Continuing our festive celebrations this week, we had a visit by a lion dance troupe who performed the traditional Chinese dance to bring in prosperity to Tanglin!
In Junior School, we were delighted to have the company of our parent volunteers to help run Mandarin craft and calligraphy workshops, as well as dumpling-making sessions. These activities provided our children with hands-on experiences and give them a first-hand understanding of the traditions behind Lunar New Year. This enrichment also echoed the ‘beyond culture’ milestone statement in our Chinese curriculum. A great thank you to these parents for their wonderful involvement and support.
Following the theme of the Lunar festivities, Senior School's Languages & Classics department organised a special celebration for the students. There was a hotpot lunch followed by a lantern rhyming activity - a quintessential Chinese classic!
The Infant English department held their 'Helpful Helper Reading Workshop' this week. The aim of the workshop was to give Helpers useful hints and tips on how to support children's reading at home. There were games and prizes to be won and lots of fun and useful activities! What a wonderful morning had by all!
It was wonderful to reconnect with our parents, staff and student alumni on Wednesday. The reunion was held - for the first-time in 3 years - on-site at Tanglin where guests were treated to a special tour of the Tanglin Centenary Building. It was lovely to hear so much positive feedback about the new building and we especially enjoyed hearing our guests reminisced over their happy memories at Tanglin when walking along familiar areas of the school!
Senior School ended the week with a game of 'Musical Chairs' on the playing field during their lunch break to win points for their Houses!
Here are some photos from last evening's Senior Battle of the Bands. Well done to all students who performed - stay tuned to find out who the winners are!
