Week in Photos

Term 3, Week 1
Congratulations to senior students Aahana and Aarna for a successful trek to the Everest base camp during their Easter break! The girls showed resilience way beyond their years. 8 days of continous trekking (around 8 to 10 hours a day) with a 5kg backpack, walking slowly through exhaustion as the air got thinner and thinner by the day. Such an inspirational achievement!

Paul Phoenix, two-time Grammy Award winner as member of King’s Singers and a vocal coach was in Tanglin this week to conduct choral training with our Infant children and Year 12 students.

He also sang in a lovely choral concert with our students at the idyllic Victoria Concert Hall on Wednesday evening. The audience was completely mesmerised by the beautiful singing and the picturesque venue.

The whole school non-uniform day fundraising enabled us to purchase ten trees for planting in the one-North area as part of the government’s OneMillionTrees Movement. We had several students on the Student Sustainability Committee, as well as staff members of the Sustainability Strategic Project, Director of Learning, John Ridley and CEO, Craig Considine involved!

It was our pleasure to have had Eugene Tan, Director of the National Gallery, in at the Institute on Thursday to present about his ideas and thoughts about where the future of art is headed. Many parents and Senior students participated in the discussion, facilitated by Elizabeth Anstiss, our Head of Senior Art.

We are delighted to be listed once again as one of Singapore's Best Employers 2023 - a ranking of the top 250 companies with at least 200 employees. Tanglin came in at 21 this year and topped the education category nationwide for the second year in a row. This study was released on Tuesday by The Straits Times and global data firm Statista. Read more about it here.

On Wednesday, Year 5 launched their Ancient Greek topic with the lighting of the Olympic 'flame'. Catch it in action here and watch out next week for photos of their exciting Greek Day.
