Week in Photos

Term 2, Week 7

It is always lovely seeing the Infant children outside of the classroom where they get to participate in an abundance of engaging sensory activities, interact with each other and develop new skills!

The Junior Student Council had an engaging and productive meeting today. As elected representatives for their class and year group, they represent their peers' concerns, opinions and ideas. We were able to listen to a variety of ideas and suggestions put forward by the children.

The theme for World Book Day this year was ‘Bring a Book to Life’. The whole Tanglin community was a riot of colour when everyone across the three schools came dressed as their favourite book characters.

Tanglin Lions Football Academy are run on Wednesday afternoons for Year 2 children. Sessions are designed to be fun and active, whilst encouraging the development of fundamental skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing and tackling!

We had a fantastic event last night with the student-led ‘A night down Broadway’. There were solo’s, duets, group numbers and lots of choreography from various musicals that showcased so many talented students and highlighted quite a few hidden gems and stars for the future. Huge thanks go to four Year 12 students Claudia, Aki, Dominique and Sean who worked hard to bring this event together.

Tanglin Trust Infant School have been very lucky to have been involved in an exciting new programme delivered by Singapore National Gallery. Each month we have a different travelling 'art cart' about artwork or techniques on display in our Infant foyer. Last month was focused on batik and lacquer art-making. This month is all about Liu Kang's 'Life by the River'.

This week, Year 12 students came to each Year 1 class to introduce the children to this famous work of art. The older students planned and prepared a short hands-on lesson for the younger children. This varied from drawing, being given information to even building their own bridges and buildings out of spaghetti and marshmallows! The children had a great time and can't wait to see what will appear next month!
