Leadership Courses - Aspiring Head Teachers

A range of Leadership Courses for our Faculty Staff.

Aspiring Headteachers 

Various courses are available. Senior leaders who are aspiring to headship may like to look at these options: 

·       IAPS Preparation for headship

·       HMC Aspiring Heads Programme 

NPQH - available online through Best Practice Network; may be available in the region through AISL, next cohort October 2025 (see John Ridley if you are interested in this option)

Middle Leaders

Singapore Leadership Programme (organised through the Singapore International Schools PD Network):

This programme is aimed at people who are reasonably new to leadership or who are looking to gain a leadership position in the near future. It involves 3 days face to face training, a series of six internal school "gel" sessions and a visit to another school. This programme is led by Chris and Greg Jansen from Leadership Lab. The cost is S$750.

·       One cohort annually - October to May.

·       Sign up by Friday 20th September for 2024-25

·       Apply through your school CPD lead.

The Independent Schools Qualification in Academic Management’ (ISQAM) (organised through Kellet School, Hong Kong and HMC):

The Independent Schools’ Qualification in Academic Management (ISQAM) is designed for Heads of Academic Departments (HoDs) and aspiring HoDs in schools of The Heads’ Conference (HMC) and The Girls’ School Association (GSA).

·       Newly available as a hybrid course in the region.

·       One cohort annually - October to January

·       Sign up by end September for 2024-25

This Level 1 cluster will comprise of the following events (you will be automatically enrolled onto the second day when you register).  The course will be blended with both online and in-person sessions:

·       Session 1: 8th October 2024 (online)

·       Session 2: 7th November 2024 (online)

·       Session 3: 2nd December 2024 (online)

·       Session 4: 18th January 2025 (Kellett School, Hong Kong)

The cost is GBP 650.

Diploma for Lead Teaching Assistants (DILTA)

This is a nine-month course for teaching assistants working in an international setting who wish to develop their leadership skills.

Aimed at those wanting to be a key liaison between TAs and the Senior Leadership Team, it will comprise of an e-learning experience combined with reading, collecting evidence, and writing assignments.

National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) (Main provider UCL; delivery partner Tanglin Trust School):

This course is suitable for experienced middle leaders, aspiring to senior leadership positions and recently appointed senior leaders.

Tanglin is a delivery partner for the UCL NPQ courses. All professional learning group sessions and face to face sessions will be offered in person, either in Singapore or KL.

·       One cohort annually - 18-month course - Feb to September

·       Sign up in Dec 2024 for Feb 2025-Sep 2026 course
