Feeding Frenzy, Bangkok
There were podium finishes, lots of personal bests and records broken at the Feeding Frenzy in Bangkok.
Sports Captain, Max, Year 13 said: "At the start of this meet we had a day before the tournament which we filled with team bonding activities. A buddy system was implemented where the older swimmers were paired with younger swimmers, a lot of whom this was their first feeding frenzy. The competition days ran smoothly. A good warm up was essential to swim at your best which really forced us to learn just how important it was to raise our heart rate before a race. Overall, the entire Merlion swim team really enjoyed the tournament. It has helped us to become better and faster swimmers in preparation for upcoming competitions."
FOBISIA Netball Tournament
We had a great first term of netball with lots of new competitions and opportunities in addition to the regular ACSIS Netball.
The results from the U13, U15 and U19 FOBISIA Netball Tournament on 7-8 December were excellent and it was wonderful to see the girls all supporting each other from Year 7 to Year 13. To have all our teams medal was testament to the hard work of the girls. The U19's came through a tough quarter final to beat Dulwich College Singapore convincingly in the final to take gold. The U15 team lost in the semi-final to the eventual winners of the tournament to achieve bronze and the U13's played superbly in a very close final to come away with silver.
The FOBISIA tournament, alongside the U15 International Youth Netball Challenge and the U15 & U19 SSC Ladies Netball League have been excellent preparation for the Tanglin Lions Netball Championship, to be hosted by Tanglin on 13 -14 March 2020.
National Selection for Rugby
Tanglin had four boys selected to represent Singapore in the U19 World Cup qualifying tournament in December. Kit, Emile, Dylan and George spent 10 days in Taiwan playing 15-a-side matches against Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. A fantastic opportunity to play at this level. Unfortunately, Singapore lost all three games narrowly so didn't qualify for next year's tournament.
