October 2019 Sport Round-up

National U13 Futera Bangkok Girls' Football Cup 2019

We were very proud to hear that one of our Year 6 Juniors, Cara, was selected to play for the Singapore National U13 team in the Futera Bangkok Girls' Football Cup 2019. This is an amazing achievement and an experience that Cara certainly made the most of, scoring her first goal at National level. A huge well done, Cara!

19&U Girls Football Division 1 Champions for Third Year in a Row

The 19&U Girls Football team completed their ACSIS season just prior to the half term break, winning their final game 4-0 at SAIS which once again confirmed the Tanglin Lions as Division 1 Champions for the third year in succession. The Tanglin Lions went through their season unbeaten and with our 16&U Girls winning Division 2 it once again demonstrated the strength of girl's football at Tanglin.

With two tournament wins also to date (the SAIS and UWCE 7s) our 19&U Girls are looking in good shape ahead of SEASAC Football at Alice Smith, Kuala Lumpur, when they will be aiming for a 6th title in a row!

Merlion Sprint Festival

Congratulations to all our swimmers that competed in the Merlion Sprint Festival in October. This was the largest festival to date and there was a great atmosphere around the OCBC Aquatics Centre. The event was a valuable experience for the 118 Tanglin swimmers who were able to practice heats and for some, finals. Our swimmers demonstrated increasing responsibility over their performance, something we have been working on.

It was a fantastic weekend for the Merlions with many great swims, personal bests (98% achieved pbs) and a record-breaking number of medals for the school. A particular well done to Amanda for winning the top girls overall 12&U award.
