Launch of the Centenary Exhibition

 

On 5 September 2024, we marked the beginning of our Centenary celebrations with the launch of the exhibition, 100 Years of Tanglin: Celebrating a Centenary of Excellence. The event was attended by over 150 guests, including alumni, parents, Foundation members, staff—some of whom have dedicated over 15 years of service to the school—alongside past Heads of School, and members of the British Association. The Party Dress Shop team, who have been crafting our school uniforms for 70 years, were also present.

Our musical scholars filled the evening with beautiful performances, adding to the atmosphere of excitement and reflection. Guests were among the first to enjoy our specially crafted Centenary Gin, Tanglin 1925, and a sweet note at the end of the event came in the form of delicious Centenary chocolate lollipops.

 

The exhibition itself features highlights from our history, including a display of school uniforms and many original letters, reports and school magazines from our archives. Attendees also had the opportunity to view the official premiere of our Centenary video, and some of the students who feature prominently were even in attendance. Mr Considine delivered a heartfelt speech and announced the official opening of the exhibition by sharing a letter of congratulations from Buckingham Palace, placing it in the Central Plinth for everyone to view.

 

We extend our gratitude to everyone who made the event possible, particularly our operations and events team. Special thanks to the exhibition design and build company First Sight who worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure that the Exhibition was ready for the beginning of term.

 

Finally, our Centenary online guestbook is now open and we received quite a few messages after the event.

 

With such a successful start, the energy and excitement for our Centenary year are well and truly underway. Here's to a year of celebrating 100 years of excellence!
